Porcelain Vase with Stamped Floral Designs, Longquan Kiln, Ming Dynasty

Solicited and collected by the Nanjing Municipal Museum.

This porcelain vase has a white body and is coated with green glaze. The foot of the vase is left unglazed. The vase has a short, straight mouth, circular shoulders, a swelling belly, a contracted shin, and a foot that turns slightly outwards. The neck of the vase is decorated with stamped (moyin) patterns of interlocking sprays and leaves; the belly, patterns of peony and chrysanthemum; and the shin, patterns of lotus petals.
