Blue-and-white Porcelain Vase with Designs of Interlocking Lotus, Qing Dynasty

Solicited and collected by the Nanjing Municipal Museum.

This vase has a thick, heavy, and grayish white body that is coated with greenish white glaze. The glaze is lustrous and smooth. The vase has a small mouth, a wide lip, a flat rim, a long neck, and broad shoulders. The vase contracts below the shoulder, and turns slightly outwards at the foot. On the belly is the principal decorative motif of sprays, flowers, and fruits. At the bottom is the seal, “Made in the Qianlong Period of Qing Dynasty”.
