This gold-gilt silver incense burner is in the shape of a prostrated lotus complete with flowers, leaves, fruits, stem, and branches. A facing-down lotus leaf with clearly visible veins serves as the pedestal of the burner, while a slender lotus as the burner. The chiseled lotus petals look vivid and true to life. From under the burner holds up a stem, on which a Buddha statue with halo sits on a lotus pedestal. There are another two lotus buds and a baozi (a kind of incense burner, mostly used by monks) at the ends of branches that fork out of the stem. Several lotus branches combine to form the long handle of the burner. The body of the handle is decorated with flower leaf patterns. At one end of the handle sits another baozi. Both baozis have a finely made cover. The cover and the body of a baozi combine to form a lifelike lotus seedpod. Since such incense burners were exclusively used in praying to the Buddha, very few of them are still extant, which makes them extremely valuable.
