Excavated from the underground vault of the Changgan Temple, which was built in the 4th year of the Northern Song Dazhong Xiangfu period, at Baotading
This oval crystal cup has a flared mouth and a shallow belly. Shiny all over, the cup shapes like a plantain leaf with clearly visible veins. There is a flat fan-shaped handle at one side of the mouth rim which is mounted with gold-gilt silver. Made out of a complete piece of crystal, the cup is bright, limpid, and has the glass-like transparency. There are not too many detailed decorations, which is in line with the jade carving style of the Northern Song dynasty: simplicity.
